Last week, Wales Online announced that Cardiff’s coolest pop-up venue is here to stay. Yep, planners have granted permission for my favourite spot, The DEPOT, to host a range of pop-up eateries and events for at least the next three years.
The news came just before the 24,000 square foot warehouse opened it’s doors for the next series of events, this time called ‘The Summer Social‘ – a Friday and Saturday night street-food festival, featuring the likes of Pizza Pronto and (one of my favourites) Science Cream, among others.
As promised, the ‘beer garden’ is the big focus for the summer, and what a beer garden it is! Take a look…
The great thing about this newly revamped outdoor space is that there is both a covered and an uncovered area; when it’s sunny, there’s plenty of space to catch a tan, but when the Welsh weather lets us down, there’s plenty of shelter under the colourful canopies. Of course, you could always hide out in one of their converted caravans!
Meanwhile, the indoors is still looking as rough & ready – but funky – as ever.
I just love how this chameleonic space keeps re-inventing itself, and keeping the people of Cardiff on their toes, guessing what they will do next!
The DEPOT Summer Social will run every Friday & Saturday in July and August, from 5pm – 11.30pm. The Sunday Brunch will take place every Sunday, from 12 noon.
