Cardiff Vegetarian Restaurants: An alphabetised list

It’s not always easy being a veggie, but even if you eat meat but just fancy some decent plant based grub, you can be sure to find something tasty on the menu at any of these Cardiff spots!

1. Anna Loka

Cardiff’s first-ever fully vegan restaurant, and bloody good it is too. Try the vegan fry up or the Sunday roast!

2. Caban

A casual, evening-only hangout with a regularly changing vegetarian and vegan menu, (there are also some meat dishes on the menu, but it’s mainly veggie).

3. Cafe Atma

A vegetarian cafe run by the Hare Krishna movement, for snacks, simple meals – and self-help classes if you fancy.

4. Crumbs Kitchen

Situated in the beautiful old Morgan Arcade, Crumbs serves a range of hot and cold, tasty vegetarian  and vegan food (think salad-y things) in Cardiff city centre.

5. Clancy’s

Situated inside Cardiff’s old market hall, Clancy’s is a fab little veggie food stall, just perfect for a quick lunch. Bean burgers, butternut bhajis, and superfood bakes are available ready-to-eat hot, or cold to take away and enjoy at home.

6. The Embassy Cafe

Based in & supporting Cathays Youth and Community Centre, this cafe is currently host to the Cardiff Real Junk Food Project. They divert food destined for waste and use it to create delicious and healthy veggie and vegan food on a pay-as-you-feel basis.

7.  Herbivore

A pop-up supper club run by Simon Matthew, a local chef and long-time vegetarian, known to many from his time at Milgi and the Embassy Cafe. Check the website for dates.

8. Mangla’s Spice of Life

A vegetarian restaurant that draws on the chef patron’s Gujarati heritage, and there’s a lovely back story too.

9. Milgi Lounge

Arty, quirky vegetarian bar and restaurant offering an ever changing menu of seasonal delights. One of my favourite veggie places in Cardiff.

10. Milgi Market

An off-shoot from the main restaurant, based inside Cardiff’s indoor market. Selling awesome, filling ‘wholefood bowls’ as well as salads, wraps and vegan cakes.

11. Kemis

Salad bar and sarnie shop with a mostly-veggie menu. Huge plates of filling, healthy fare – love it there!

 12. Vegetarian Food Studio

A no-frills restaurant  offering a menu of Indian vegetarian specialities. Try the extra hot chilli pakoras served with tamarind chutney. Mouth wateringly spicy!

This is such a great list, thank you! A couple I’ve not yet been to. I’d also add The Moos on Whitchurch Road, it’s a vegan cafe bar, open during the day and they do lovely breakfasts and salads/soups.
