Win two tickets to the Abergavenny Christmas Fair

Abergavenny Christmas
The Abergavenny Christmas Fair will return to the Welsh market town on Sunday 10th December, welcoming over 85 artisan stallholders and showcasing a huge variety of local, seasonal produce and festive foodie gifts.

Sadly, as this year’s Christmas market falls on the same weekend of my 32nd birthday (!) I will be too busy quaffing champagne and accepting lavish gifts to be able to make it. I’m a bit gutted, because tickets to the festival cost a mere £5 each, and after attending the main festival earlier this year, I just know how good it will be.
Included in the ticket price is access to a fab selection of chef talks and interactive demos on everything from foraged festive trifle, to making the most of the Christmas leftovers. With a focus on celebrating up-and-coming Welsh culinary stars, this year’s line-up includes:

  • Food blogger turned MasterChef Quarter-Finalist Imran Nathoo on ‘making the most of your Christmas leftovers’
  • Chef Tommy Heaney on cooking up a showcase festive feast
  • Liz Knight from Forage Fine Foods on cooking a foraged Christmas trifle
  • Guardian gardening journalist Lia Leendertz sharing recipes from her book, The Almanac: A Seasonal Guide to 2018

There are also a handful of paid-for expert masterclasses on offer – including a Christmas desserts class with culinary maestro and Bake Off Creme de la Creme finalist Laurian Veaudour from our very own Cocorico Patisserie in Cardiff.

If you’re reading the line-up and thinking about heading to Abergavenny on December 10th, I can highly recommend coupling your visit with a trip to The Angel Hotel – their festive afternoon tea is a thing of beauty, and make sure you pop in to their custom-built  “après-ski” hut for a tipple, too!
