My top 5 things to eat in Cardiff this December

My top 5 things to eat in Cardiff this December

Bored of the food at your local and want to try something a bit different? My regular round-up of Cardiff’s most interesting pop-ups, menus and festive events might help…

It’s all kicking off in December, with beer and cheese pairings in a micropub, vegetarian supper-clubs and an exciting new pop-up shop based right in the city centre.

Enough festive cheer to fix even the worst cases of foodie fatigue!

1. Christmas Cheese and Beers St Cannas Micropub

Thursday 7th December

Pop into Pont-Canton’s tiniest boozer, St Canna’s, for an evening of craft beers matched with local cheeses from the Welsh Cheese Company. The perfect  solution if you’re not too keen on the traditional match of red wine or port, and you don’t need a ticket either – just turn up!

2 The Kemi’s cafe vegan Christmas dinner

Wednesday 13th December

Head to Kemi’s cafe in Pontcanna for a night of homemade festivities, cheesy Christmas tunes and a vegan Christmas dinner that would make any carnivore forget about pigs in blankets. There’ll be mulled wine & bubbles to accompany the four courses of fresh, seasonal & festive plant-based delights, and a bar offering drinks at cheap and cheerful prices. Tickets have sold out, but keep an eye on the Facebook event page for info on returns / extra dates.

3 Herbivore’s ‘Blue Christmas’ pop-up at Blue Honey

Tuesday 19th December

This December, everyone’s favourite hipster hang-out, The Blue Honey Night Cafe, will be hosting my favourite plant-based Cardiff supper-club, Herbivore. At this one-off Christmas collaboration, guests can expect five courses of vegan cuisine with a trendy twist. For bookings and further info, email simon@theherbivore.co.uk.

4 The Dusty Knuckle ‘Get Wasted’ Christmas menu

All month

Dusty Knuckle has been closed for the last few weeks, sprucing up the covered courtyard and making it look super sparkly in time for a festive re-opening. To go with the new look, they also have an exciting new Christmas menu, called ‘Get Wasted‘. The focus is on using up food waste, and creating delicious dishes that are as sustainable as they are delicious. Book in via the Dusty Knuckle website, or call them directly on 07943826701.

5 Anything from the Wrights Food pop-up

All month

For four weeks only, keen foodies can head upstairs in Castle Arcade to find the Christmas pop-up store from Wrights Food Emporium. Wrights is a café and food store with rooms in South West Wales, renowned all over for stocking an amazing selection of local produce; the pop-up is destined to be my one-stop-shop for foodie stocking fillers. Plus they’ll let you sip a beer or a glass of wine while you shop… need I say more!?

Want to get December’s foodie round-up first? You know what to do…
