WIN! A copy of Sarah Philpott’s new cookbook, The Occasional Vegan

The Occasional Vegan

Fellow Cardiff food blogger Sarah Philpott is proving that eating well doesn’t need to break the bank in her fab new cookbook, The Occasional Vegan.Sarah’s new book contains 70 simple, tasty and inexpensive vegan recipes, each beautifully photographed by another talented Cardiffian, food stylist Manon Houston. Over 172 pages, Sarah explores the ethical arguments for a plant-based diet through her own experience of turning vegan at thirty, and shows that it’s a lifestyle choice that needn’t be expensive or boring; her recipes are anything but.

The Occasional Vegan

Divided into four sections, Sarah’s recipes cover everything from quick meals for busy people to lazy brunches and Sunday lunches. There are also recipes for special occasions like birthdays, Christmas and Easter; and comfort food and children’s favourites – think tomato soup, scrambled ‘egg’ on toast, cauliflower ‘cheese’ and even a couple of Welsh classics like cawl and bara brith. I gave her scrambled tofu on toast recipe a go a few weeks back and it was quick, easy and delicious!

I’d so love to win this book – I’m trying to incorporate more vegan meals into my life so these recipes will be very handy – especially the quick meals section. Less prep and cooking time suits me and my constantly hungry family!

This looks awesome! I have recently moved to Cardiff (from Australia) and love the idea of seeing some veganised Welsh classics. I would have loved to come to the launch as well, but can’t make it unfortunately, hopefully I’ll get to read about it here though 🙂

This book looks great! I love Sarah’s blog. I’ve done Veganuary a couple of times but would love more inspiration to keep a carnivore husband and fussy four year old happy!
