HANK! EPISODE 8: FEEDING THE NHS DURING COVID-19

Feed the NHS Cardiff

Whilst NHS staff across Wales face the Coronavirus crisis head on, in Cardiff a network of volunteers is ensuring that these key workers will stay well fed throughout.

In the latest episode of the #HankCardiff podcast we speak to two independent business owners who have been fundraising and coordinating food deliveries, to lift the spirits of hardworking front-line medical staff in South Wales.

First Matt and I chat to Kevin McGuckian, founder of artisan scotch egg company Holy Yolks, and organiser of of the #feedtheheroesdiff campaign. His collective of more than 30 local independent businesses has been dropping off foodie care packages to front line NHS workers across South Wales ever since the lockdown measures were first announced.

We also chatted to Waterloo Tea founder Kasim Ali, whose Feed The Heath fundraiser has now raised a massive £70,000 towards feeding front line staff at Wales’ biggest hospital. The sheer scale of Kasim’s operation is astounding, and his efforts have been supported by a diverse clutch of local businesses, including Juboraj, Milkwood, Secret Garden Cafe, Cinnamon Tree, James Sommerin, EJ Catering, Scene Cuisine, Spiros, The Ivy Collection, Earls Kitchen, New House Hotel, Ana Loka, Vegetarian Food Studio, Go Panda, Cowshed Communications and Full Stop Accounts.
