City-centre sauna, cold dip and… a pie? It’s unexpected, but it works

On Sunday, I spend an hour hopping in and out of wood-fired saunas and cold plunges in an industrial corner of the city centre, before scoffing down a warm pie and a coffee on up-and-coming Trade Street – like this is all completely normal. And it was kind of perfect.

A Solo Spa Day at The Park Plaza, Cardiff

On a blustery day in the middle of a particularly hectic December, I took the Park Plaza Cardiff up on an offer to review their ever-popular Escape Package; jumping at the chance to laze by the pool, indulge in 80 minutes of spa treatments, and hit the restaurant to enjoy a two-course solo dinner (and exude some big main-character-energy).

Recently, the hotel has been working on improving its sustainability measures too, so I was keen to find out what’s changed – and what’s to come in 2023.

An Afternoon on the River with Canoe the Wye

I have enjoyed Symonds Yat on foot. I have enjoyed Symond’s Yat whilst sat on my arse with a pint in my hand. I had not yet enjoyed Symond’s Yat by boat.

Time to change that!
