It’s taken me so long to write this post because it doesn’t really fit with the rest of this site. The Shangri La London certainly isn’t budget-friendly, it’s not eco-friendly and it isn’t somewhere you might stay if you were looking to reconnect with nature. That being said, it is an experience I’ll never ever forget, and so for that reason, I just had to write it up.

#WastEDLondon is a temporary pop up restaurant currently wowing diners on the rooftop of Selfridges in London – and it’s a pop-up like no other. It aims to start conversations about sustainability and waste, by serving up a menu made primarily from food by-products which are usually binned by the food industry (the capitalised ‘ED’ stands for ‘Education’). It’s the most talked-about pop-up experience in London this year so far – and last week, I ate my way through the tasting menu.

Though I try not to each much meat these days, I am still extremely partial to a box of fried chicken and chips. So crispy! So salty! So naughty! Thankfully, in wonderful London, there are plenty of eateries serving free range or organic versions of the takeaway treat.
