But these markets are also an excellent way to get closer to the people who grow and produce our food. They have the potential to offer the freshest, tastiest produce (some farmers even pick for the market on the very same day), and can help us to eat more seasonally by offering up the best of what’s in season now.

All the Veg Box Schemes available in Cardiff

Veg box sales rocketed by 111% in just six weeks at the beginning of the first lockdown, with Covid-19 driving demand for fresh, healthy food that could be home delivered. Some of the usual veg box companies even struggled to cope; many had to put waiting lists in place and turn away new orders. 

Luckily, it wasn’t long before local businesses stepped up to fill the gaps, and existing veg box schemes found ways to adapt and expand. As a result there is now plenty of choice when it comes to finding a local scheme that works for you.

Guilt-free flights: Is carbon offsetting the answer?

By now, most of us know that we should be flying less. Travelling by aeroplane accounts for 2% of total global greenhouse gas emissions, and those 39.4 million annual flights pump out toxic nitrogen oxide, cancer-causing exhaust particulates and carbon dioxide; the latter of which absorbs heat and re-emits it back to earth.  

But for most people, completely quitting on flying is unlikely to be an option. So what can we do to reduce the impact of our aviation travel?
