The arrival of a new independent mini-market called the Canna Deli is the talk of Pontcanna. They specialise in artisan cheese, award winning Welsh produce and fine food.

Last year, I wrote about Pizza Pronto, the small but perfectly formed pizza take-away that had recently opened in Penarth to rave reviews. One year on, pleased to see that these guys are doing great – branching out of Penarth and into pop-up rooftop cinema dates, and most recently, taking a spot at my favourite street-food venue, The DEPOT.

Regular readers of my blog will know I’m not a veggie but I quite often skip meat from my mealtimes, and a recent trip to Las Iguana’s restaurant on Mill Lane left me pleasantly surprised at how well they can cater for me and my meat-free friends.

They’ve won a Compassion in World Farming ‘Good Chicken’ award for sourcing from ‘enriched’ farms with greater respect for animal welfare, an Observer Food Monthly Award for Best Cheap Eat in the UK, and the Sustainable Restaurant Group of the Year in 2012 and 2013. And now, they’re here in Cardiff!
