Cool FM presenters Pete Snodden and Rebeeca McKinney enjoy their smoothies as the liquid green machine arrives in Belfast city centre today to promote a new government campaign to reduce the amount of household food waste in the UK. Dishing out free smoothies and asking members of the public to pledge to do one thing differently could help to reduce the amount of food we throw away.
In June the Love Food Hate Waste campaign announced that Belfast would be one of just 10 cities across the whole of the UK chosen to focus on fighting food waste from 2014 to 2016, helping the people of Belfast to do one thing differently – changing our kitchen habits and showing it’s possible for us all to make a difference and prevent our food from becoming waste.
There will also be a second coinciding event at the Northern Ireland Assembly where officials including Ms Anna Lo sponsor of the Event and Department of the Environment Minister Mark H Durkan will be in attendance, sampling smoothies and making their pledges to #DoOneThingDifferently.
