Every time another independent venue announced rising costs, every time I heard someone say they “always mean to try” somewhere new but never quite get around to it, I kept coming back to the same thought – we need to do this again!

Last month I spent a long weekend in Romania with my cousin on a short, guided, group trip that was exactly what I needed – not because it was “life-changing” or any of that, but because it removed the part of travel I have had zero capacity for lately: endless decision making.
So we booked the ‘Hiking and Bear Watching in Romania’ trip with Much Better Adventures, based out of Brașov – a place I’d never once thought about visiting on my own.

A new neighbourhood restaurant and wine shop will open later this year on Kings Road (formerly the site of Poca restaurant), on the border between Canton and Pontcanna.
Behind ‘Ogof’ – the Welsh word for cave – are co-owners and local residents Alex Vines, Zanna Clarke and Siôn Iorwerth; Alex has spent more than a decade cooking in acclaimed London kitchens including 40 Maltby Street and Rochelle Canteen, followed by running his much-loved ‘Vines’ pop-up in venues across Cardiff.

A brand-new Welsh cheese & wine bottle shop will be opening in Canton later this year, opposite Victoria Park.
The shop is the latest project from the team behind The Welsh Cheese Company, the Welsh cheese specialists run by international cheese judge Tom Pinder. For the past seven years The Welsh Cheese Company has made it their mission to spread the word about Welsh cheese, working closely with some of the most passionate producers in the country including Caws Cenarth, Caws Teifi, Pant Mawr Cheeses, The Snowdonia Cheese Company, Brooke’s Dairy and Cosyn Cymru.
